64. anniversary of the Warsaw Rising


The events commemorating the Warsaw Rising of 1944.

August 1, 2008 (Friday)

10am – Celebration at the monument of Fighting Mokotow–1944.
Performance of Mokotow March – a march through Pulawska Street from General Orlicz-Dreszer Park to Dworkowa
Noon – Ceremonial change of guard at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier – Pilsudskiego Square
1.30pm – The laying of wreaths at the monument of Gen. Grot -Rowecki on the corner of Chopina and Ujazdowskie Avenue
2pm – Celebration at the Polish Underground State and Home Army Monument on Wiejska
4.30 – The laying of wreaths at the grave of Gen. Antoni Chrusciel „Monter” at the Military Cemetery on Powazkowska Avenue 
5pm – Celebration at the Gloria Victis Monument at the Military Cemetery on Powazkowska Avenue
7pm – Celebration at the Fallen Unconquerable Monument at the Warsaw Insurgents Cemetery in the Wola district. An ecumenical service will be held.
8pm – a songfest on Pilsudski Square – an outdoor event - Warsaw Rising Museum
8:30pm – An outdoor cinema – Unknown film material from the Warsaw Rising, Freedom Park, Warsaw Rising Museum
9pm – Celebration at the Warsaw Rising Mound
10pm – UNDERSTANDING THE RISING Project – Hamlet 44
performance (A Première) directed by Pawel Passini – Freedom Park, Warsaw Rising Museum



August 2, 2008 (Saturday)

10am – Ceremony of placing a plaque at Ho ¿ a 51 commemorating the largest insurgent arm manufacturer.
Noon–3pm – Family picnic („Zawiszak scouts and Scout Post”)
5pm–7pm – Mass to the Rising – a bicycle rally through the streets of Warsaw – Critical Mass Association and the Warsaw Rising Museum
6pm – UNDERSTAND THE RISING Project – Literary performance Twelve Angry Men directed by Piotr Ratajczak in the Jan Nowak-Jezioranski auditorium of the Warsaw Rising Museum
10pm – UNDERSTAND THE RISING Project – Hamlet 44 performance, directed by Pawe ³ Passini – Freedom Park, Warsaw Rising Museum

August 3, 2008 (Sunday)

10am – Conferring state decorations A meeting of Warsaw Insurgents with the President of the Republic of Poland Lech
Kaczynski and the President of the City of Warsaw Hanna Gronkiewicz-Waltz. The meeting will be followed by a chamber orchestra concert and refreshments in the Freedom Park by the Warsaw Rising Museum.
4pm – UNDERSTANDING THE RISING Project– literary performance A Barricade Builder, directed by Bogna Podbielska, Freedom Park, Warsaw Rising Museum
4pm-6pm – UNDERSTAND THE RISING Project – Puppets under Barricades – an outdoor event in the Powisle district commemorating an insurgent puppet theatre
6pm – Holy Mass for Warsaw residents and scouts in the Freedom Park by the Warsaw Rising Museum
8pm – An outdoor cinema in the Freedom Park at the Warsaw Rising Museum
10pm – UNDERSTAND THE RISING Project – Hamlet 44 performance, directed by Pawel Passini – Freedom Park, Warsaw Rising Museum
