Arriving in Warsaw by Rail

| |

Warsaw offers excellent rail connections with other European cities. Its geographical location in the centre of the country and a well-developed railway network make it possible for tourists to set off from Warsaw on trips to explore the rest of Poland.

Warsaw has a few railway stations (Dworzec PKP). The principal one, called Dworzec Centralny or Warszawa Centralna, is situated in the city centre close to the Palace of Culture and Science. It is both the busiest and the largest railway station in Poland. Most international and long-distance trains heading for Warszawa Wschodnia and Warszawa Zachodnia pass through and call at the station. It is usually not the last stop on the route which some tourists might find quite confusing.

Other major railway stations where international and long-distance domestic trains stop include:

  • Warszawa Wschodnia or Dworzec Wschodni
  • Warszawa Zachodnia or Dworzec Zachodni which is linked by subway to Warsaw's major coach station – Warszawa Zachodnia Coach Station.

If you are fond of sightseeing other regions of Poland, the best idea is to set off from Warszawa Centralna as it boasts the largest amount of domestic railway connections.
