The Branicki Palace (Palac Branickich) is a 18th century Rococo-style magnate’s mansion, situated at the junction of Podwale and Miodowa Streets. It was erected for Hetman Jan Klemens Branicki. “Hetman” was the title given to the second highest military commander (after the monarch). The palace was heavily bombed during the WWII, and reconstructed in 1967 on the basis of Bernardo Belotto paintings. Currently the palace is the residence the city government. Not available to visitors.
